My husband and I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Emma to prepare for the birth of our first baby. Emma’s classes were both informative and relaxing and we both feel so prepared for a peaceful, natural birth at home, thanks to our HyponoBirthing practice. If you’re interested in HypnoBirthing, I would highly recommend working with Emma.
Emily, Berkhamsted
I couldn’t thank Emma enough for teaching me and my husband the art of Hypnobirthing. Even though I ended up being induced I still used the the Hypnobirthing method and had an incredible natural birth. I couldn’t recommend Emma enough, thank you!

Emma has a warm and intuitive teaching style. She guided me through my pregnancy and helped me overcome my birthing fears and have the most empowering and rewarding birthing experience. I actually enjoyed it. For that I am hugely thankful.
Sarah, Berkhamsted
The environment was positive and welcoming. The hypnobirthing course was informative, educational and provided us with the tools to have at the birth. I feel more knowledgeable and confident and my partner is now more involved in the process. We feel excited for the birth

I just want to say a massive thank you, the hypnobirthing skills you taught us on the course were invaluable during the birth. It gave us so much confidence, the whole experience was calm, anxiety free and positive.
Jessica, Leighton Buzzard
The course was really informative and I learnt so much about birth that I never knew. It was lovely to discuss concerns and other ideas for birth with other couples. I feel a lot calmer and positive about giving birth and more confident that I can handle whatever happens during our birthing experience. I have enjoyed the relaxations so much. I am glad I have plenty of them to listen to before our birthing day.
Amelia, Leighton Buzzard
I did not have any type of pain relief at all and the sensations I had were completely bearable. Iain was also really great, he stayed in control and calm, did the soft touch massage and was generally very soothing. I put my amazing birth experience down to the hypnobirthing lessons and doing the relaxations and birthing affirmations (almost) daily, so thank you for teaching Iain and I the skills we needed to make that happen.
Penny, Rickmansworth
Just to say many thanks. Had it not been for hypnobirthing, I would have not survived! Our baby Eden was born 23rd December and using the hypnobirthing tools saved me! I got to full dilation within 3 hours of the first sign of labour and the breathing literally took the pain away like an anaesthetic would, I was surprised how powerful it was. I cannot emphasise enough the empowerment, confidence, vital knowledge and coping tools that I gained from hypnobirthing. I rarely recommend courses but this is a must for every woman. To be candid I would advise this course is taught to every mother-to-be as standard, simply to equip women with the physical, emotional/mental skills & techniques required to undergo the powerful experience of childbirth; and to access the inner strength required for such a feat!

Hypnobirthing often gives couples the confidence to opt for a home birth, preferring to give birth in their own private, peaceful, familiar surroundings. Alternatively, for couples who choose to give birth in hospital, there is a midwifery led birthing centre in Worthing Hospital which caters for natural childbirth and enables you to have a water birth. If you are required to give birth in the labour ward, Worthing Hospital is conveniently located in the town centre. Click on the hospital link below you can find out more about the hospital’s maternity services and book a tour:

Your body can really benefit from relaxation during pregnancy and the soothing of any aches and pains. Massage can stimulate your blood flow and calm any anxieties or stresses in your mind. Babies can also benefit from gentle massage.
Reflexology concentrates on the hands and feet as ways to relieve aches and pains in the body. Many women suffer from discomfort during pregnancy, especially in the back or pelvis. Experienced reflexologists use pressure points to focus on these areas. Reflexology can also help with swelling, nausea, repositioning babies, and natural induction.

Osteopathy in Worthing
Focusing on the joints, bones and muscle tissue, osteopathy is fantastic if you suffer from back pain, knee pain or neck problems. It can also help with any pelvic discomfort you have. Cranial osteopathy is also really good for realigning your baby after their journey during birth.
Worthing Osteopathic and Wellbeing Clinic
Using ancient natural remedies, homeopathy is a form of medicinal treatment that can help with everything from nausea and morning sickness to depression and pain management. Although your GP should be the first person you talk to about any medical worries, homeopathic healers can work very well alongside your medical professionals especially if there are certain medicines that you are restricted from taking during pregnancy. Homeopathic kits can also be used during labour as an alternative to traditional pain relief.
Nutritional therapy can be extremely useful for pregnant women who are facing difficulties with food or sickness. A nutritional analysis can provide information about deficiencies as well as nausea, baby blues and cravings.

The success of hypnobirthing depends largely on the amount of practice put in during the course. Pain-free labour is possible with hypobirthing for some mothers. As a guide, it was found that around 65%-70% of hypnobirthing mums didn’t need any form of pain relief supported by my own study which found that 69% of women I taught over a 2 year period didn’t need pain relief during labour. Furthermore, only 20%-25% needed mild assistance such as gas and air, while the remaining 5%-10% normally experienced ‘special circumstances’, and consequently required medical intervention.
My hypnobirthing students who experienced special circumstances confirmed that hypnobirthing was of great help during inducement or caesarean. Read about individual birth-story experiences on my blog.
Mothers who deliver without epidurals usually move freely and change positions easily during labour. Mothers can birth the baby better and faster when they stay connected with their birthing bodies. Studies show that epidurals prolong labour time and increase the possibility of further interventions. Parents should note that any drugs taken in by mothers can also affect the baby.
Hypnobirthing provides the best opportunity for a natural birth and reduces the need for pain-relieving drugs. A drug-free birthing experience is more beneficial for both mother and child.
You start the 4-week course between your 20th and 30th week of pregnancy. For those later than 30 weeks, we should still be able to fit the course in for you up to 36 weeks.
Yes, you do. Self-hypnosis and deep relaxation are more effective when learnt with practice time between weekly classes for maximum success, to make you feel fully prepared, relaxed and confident as you reach your birthing day.
Hypnobirthing is for everyone interested in feeling prepared and confident about birth. They could be first-time mums, mums who are on their second or successive pregnancies, or those who want to experience vaginal birth after caesarean (VBAC). The techniques are useful for home births, hospital or birth centre births.
Hypnobirthing is basically about entering a complete state of calm. You will be fully aware of your surroundings and chat normally when necessary. Self-hypnosis can be easily learnt and improved upon throughout the course. The hypnobirthing course involves more than just learning self-hypnosis, however. It is an entire philosophy and positive approach to childbirth and pregnancy. Furthermore, after birth, the relaxation techniques will be of great help to de-stress in daily life.
Hypnobirthing is great for your baby since the baby feels everything you feel in the womb, which includes relaxation and calmness. Endorphins are natural relaxants in your body, which are released during childbirth when your body is in a calm state. Endorphins are usually found in the placenta and umbilical cord. This could help the baby adjust to life after birth and also make things comfortable for the baby. Research shows that babies who were born naturally are more alert and active, showing more interest in breastfeeding behaviours.
