My husband and I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Emma to prepare for the birth of our first baby. Emma’s classes were both informative and relaxing and we both feel so prepared for a peaceful, natural birth at home, thanks to our HyponoBirthing practice. If you’re interested in HypnoBirthing, I would highly recommend working with Emma.

I couldn’t thank Emma enough for teaching me and my husband the art of Hypnobirthing. Even though I ended up being induced I still used the the Hypnobirthing method and had an incredible natural birth. I couldn’t recommend Emma enough, thank you!

Emma has a warm and intuitive teaching style. She guided me through my pregnancy and helped me overcome my birthing fears and have the most empowering and rewarding birthing experience. I actually enjoyed it. For that I am hugely thankful.

The environment was positive and welcoming. The hypnobirthing course was informative, educational and provided us with the tools to have at the birth. I feel more knowledgeable and confident and my partner is now more involved in the process. We feel excited for the birth

I just want to say a massive thank you, the hypnobirthing skills you taught us on the course were invaluable during the birth. It gave us so much confidence, the whole experience was calm, anxiety free and positive.

The course was really informative and I learnt so much about birth that I never knew. It was lovely to discuss concerns and other ideas for birth with other couples. I feel a lot calmer and positive about giving birth and more confident that I can handle whatever happens during our birthing experience. I have enjoyed the relaxations so much. I am glad I have plenty of them to listen to before our birthing day.
Amelia, Leighton Buzzard
I did not have any type of pain relief at all and the sensations I had were completely bearable. Iain was also really great, he stayed in control and calm, did the soft touch massage and was generally very soothing. I put my amazing birth experience down to the hypnobirthing lessons and doing the relaxations and birthing affirmations (almost) daily, so thank you for teaching Iain and I the skills we needed to make that happen.
Penny, Rickmansworth
Just to say many thanks. Had it not been for hypnobirthing, I would have not survived! Our baby Eden was born 23rd December and using the hypnobirthing tools saved me! I got to full dilation within 3 hours of the first sign of labour and the breathing literally took the pain away like an anaesthetic would, I was surprised how powerful it was. I cannot emphasise enough the empowerment, confidence, vital knowledge and coping tools that I gained from hypnobirthing. I rarely recommend courses but this is a must for every woman. To be candid I would advise this course is taught to every mother-to-be as standard, simply to equip women with the physical, emotional/mental skills & techniques required to undergo the powerful experience of childbirth; and to access the inner strength required for such a feat!

Hypnobirthing is an acquired skill, so its success also depends on the amount of practice done during the online hypnobirthing course. According to research from the Hypnobirthing Institute, no pain relief was needed by 65-70% of hypnobirthing mums. As many as 69% of the mums I trained over a 2 year period, did not need any pain relief during labour. The study from the Hypnobirthing Institute also revealed that gas and air was required by just 20-25% of hypnobirthing mums and special circumstances in which medical intervention was needed happened in just 5-10% of the cases.
It is very important for mums to be able to stay in contact with their birthing bodies so that they can breathe their baby down easily. Drug-free births help mothers move freely, go to the bathroom, and walk around during the whole labour period. A drug-free Hypnobirthing process also reduces the labour time and reduces the chances of medical intervention, such as forceps and vacuum extraction. A drug-free birth also ensures no drugs get passed on to the baby.
The most suitable time to start the 4-week Hypnobirthing course is between the 20th (after your 20-week pregnancy scan) and 30th week of your pregnancy. If you are later than 30 weeks, no worries, we should still be able to fit in the course for you, so please still get in touch.
Certainly, yes. Self-hypnosis and deep relaxation are acquired skills. It is learned through practise, both in class and in between our weekly course classes. The time frame of the 4-week course enables you and your birthing partner to feel absolutely prepared, relaxed and confident as you advance towards your birthing day.
Hypnobirthing is for anyone who wants to feel fully prepared, calm and confident about birth. Often, first-time mums with no previous experience of childbirth will use this technique to calm their nerves. Mums who are on their second or subsequent babies may want an alternative and safer approach to childbirth, having had a difficult and painful first experience. Also, mums who previously had fears about having a vaginal birth may opt for hypnobirthing to have a vaginal birth following Caesarean (VBAC). Hypnobirthing techniques are useful for both home births and at hospital or birth-centre births.
There’s nothing strange about hypnosis. It’s just about entering a state of relaxation. You will always be fully aware of what’s going on around you and you can still communicate normally. You can learn and acquire the skill of self-hypnosis easily on the course. The hypnobirthing course is also much more than simply knowing about the self-hypnosis; it involves a whole positive philosophical attitude towards pregnancy and childbirth.
Every time you become relaxed and calm, your baby will also enjoy exactly the same calm sensation because your baby feels exactly what you feel. So Hypnobirthing is definitely beneficial for your baby. Your body’s natural relaxant hormones, endorphins, released when your body is in a natural calm state during childbirth, have been found in the placenta and umbilical cord. This may serve to help the baby adjust to life outside the womb as well as making the birth journey more comfortable.
Research studies have shown that babies of mothers who had natural childbirth are more alert, active, show more cognition and interest in breastfeeding behaviours such as suckling and massaging the mother’s breasts.
