Introduction

Congratulations on your pregnancy and welcome to Together Birthing. I am Emma and I am am a hypnobirthing mum and certified hypnobirthing practitioner.

I practiced hypnobirthing for my second birth, after a difficult first birth, and the results were amazing. I was so inspired by my birth experience that I wanted every couple to experience hypnobirthing and so decided to train as a hypnobirthing practitioner and start teaching expectant couples. I have had the privilege of teaching hundreds of parents-to-be since qualifying in 2014.

I received my training from the Hypnobirthing Institute in 2014 and the Hypnobirthing Training Academy in 2016 and trained with Jenny Mullan, one of the first hypnobirthing trainers in the UK.

I am here to give live online hypnobirthing classes in Surrey so that pregnant women in Surrey can have a calm, fear-free labour and positive birthing experience. The goal is teach all the skills, tools and techniques to fully prepare couples for labour and birth. The course comprises 4 x 2 hour weekly online classes and includes a course companion book and 9 relaxation downloads.

    FAQs

Hypnobirthing is a birthing process that enables a calmer, easier delivery. The hypnobirthing’s primary purpose is to aid mums-to-be in staying in control, free from anxiety and any fears about their labour. This form of birth takes less time than a normal one and also enables a delivery with less pain giving mums the best opportunity for a drug-free natural birth.

No, there is never a complete guarantee of painless birthing even with hypnobirthing because it varies from person to person. The pain level will be less if you have a good knowledge and understanding of hypnobirthing and have practised the key techniques.

According to studies, it is known that around 65%-70% of women who go for hypnobirthing don’t require any pain-reducing medicines for the labour process. Other than this figure, around 20%-25% of hypnobirthing women only need light treatments, including air and gas. However, 5%-10% of women have special circumstances that require some intervention. But there are still various benefits that hypnobirthing can provide to these women, including the power to maintain a calm environment for the birthing process.

It is essential to realise that if the mother takes any medication, there is a chance that it can affect her baby. Without the epidural, the mother can move freely and connect with her body to help the baby come out. According to research, epidurals increase the labour time and create conditions in which forceps or vacuum often become necessary.

Hypnobirthing helps educate women about the whole labour process and teaches them how to stay positive and calm during the whole procedure. Hypnobirthing makes sure that birthing mothers are as relaxed as possible, leading to a smoother delivery.

We recommend that you start learning hypnobirthing between the 20th and 30th week of your pregnancy. However, if you are later than 30 weeks, we can still fit a course in for you up to your estimated delivery date.

Yes absolutely. The purpose of hypnobirthing is to teach self-hypnosis (breathing and visualisation techniques) which needs regular practice so that you and your birthing partner are fully prepared and confident for their birthing day.

Hypnobirthing is suited to first-time mothers who feel nervous and want to properly prepare for birth and also for mothers of subsequent births who want a better experience than before.  The techniques are simple and easy to do.

Hypnobirthing helps your baby, giving them a sense of calmness emanating from you during pregnancy and birth. Babies come into the world feeling calm, welcome and loved.
