My husband and I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Emma to prepare for the birth of our first baby. Emma’s classes were both informative and relaxing and we both feel so prepared for a peaceful, natural birth at home, thanks to our HyponoBirthing practice. If you’re interested in HypnoBirthing, I would highly recommend working with Emma.

I couldn’t thank Emma enough for teaching me and my husband the art of Hypnobirthing. Even though I ended up being induced I still used the the Hypnobirthing method and had an incredible natural birth. I couldn’t recommend Emma enough, thank you!

Emma has a warm and intuitive teaching style. She guided me through my pregnancy and helped me overcome my birthing fears and have the most empowering and rewarding birthing experience. I actually enjoyed it. For that I am hugely thankful.

The environment was positive and welcoming. The hypnobirthing course was informative, educational and provided us with the tools to have at the birth. I feel more knowledgeable and confident and my partner is now more involved in the process. We feel excited for the birth

I just want to say a massive thank you, the hypnobirthing skills you taught us on the course were invaluable during the birth. It gave us so much confidence, the whole experience was calm, anxiety free and positive.

The course was really informative and I learnt so much about birth that I never knew. It was lovely to discuss concerns and other ideas for birth with other couples. I feel a lot calmer and positive about giving birth and more confident that I can handle whatever happens during our birthing experience. I have enjoyed the relaxations so much. I am glad I have plenty of them to listen to before our birthing day.

I did not have any type of pain relief at all and the sensations I had were completely bearable. Iain was also really great, he stayed in control and calm, did the soft touch massage and was generally very soothing. I put my amazing birth experience down to the hypnobirthing lessons and doing the relaxations and birthing affirmations (almost) daily, so thank you for teaching Iain and I the skills we needed to make that happen.

Just to say many thanks. Had it not been for hypnobirthing, I would have not survived! Our baby Eden was born 23rd December and using the hypnobirthing tools saved me! I got to full dilation within 3 hours of the first sign of labour and the breathing literally took the pain away like an anaesthetic would, I was surprised how powerful it was. I cannot emphasise enough the empowerment, confidence, vital knowledge and coping tools that I gained from hypnobirthing. I rarely recommend courses but this is a must for every woman. To be candid I would advise this course is taught to every mother-to-be as standard, simply to equip women with the physical, emotional/mental skills & techniques required to undergo the powerful experience of childbirth; and to access the inner strength required for such a feat!

Hypnobirthing is an acquired skill, the success of which is dependent on the level of practice put in during the course. Interestingly, The Hypnobirthing Institute discovered in a survey that 65-70% of hypnobirthing mums don’t need any form of pain relief. In the same light, 69% of women who I taught over a 2-year period, needed no pain relief either. The institute further said that 20-25% require something mild, while the remaining 5-10% usually experience ‘special circumstances’, where medical intervention is required. My hypnobirthing students who experienced special circumstances revealed that the hypnobirthing course was still of great help. Read more individual birth-story experiences on my blog.
Drug-free birthing is beneficial to both mother and child. Generally, mums who birth naturally can move freely, and change positions easily throughout labour which is very helpful if the baby is in a difficult position for birth. Mothers can birth faster and easier when they are connected to their birthing bodies. Using epidurals, on the other hand, prolongs labour and increases the possibility of needing other interventions during delivery. Also, the drugs ingested by mothers affects the babies as well. The easiest way to achieve a drug-free birth experience is through hypnobirthing.
It’s best to begin the course between the 20th and 30th week of your pregnancy. If you are already later than 30 weeks, we should still be able to fit the course in for you, up to 36 weeks.
Absolutely, yes. Self-hypnosis and deep relaxation are acquired skills, which are most effective when they have been learned with sufficient practice time between weekly classes for maximum success. The 4-week course enables you and your birth companion to feel fully prepared, relaxed, and confident as you approach your birthing day.
Hypnobirthing is for everyone aiming to feel more prepared and confident about their birth experience. Whether first-time mums with no prior childbirth experience, mothers on their second or successive pregnancies, or mothers who wish to have a vaginal birth after a caesarean section. Hypnobirthing techniques are very useful for home births, hospital births, or birth-centre births.
Hypnobirthing can work for anyone interested in learning the skills and techniques involved. Basically, it involves the act of entering into a state of complete relaxation, where you are calm and in total control. You will be fully aware of your surroundings. Self-hypnosis is an easy-to-learn acquired skill and needs regular practice. It can be learned and improved throughout the periods during and after the hypnobirthing course. The relaxation techniques are also helpful to relieve stress in everyday life.
Just as it is beneficial for you, it is also very good for your baby. When you are calm and collected as a result of hypnobirthing techniques, your baby will definitely feel the same way. Endorphins are your body’s natural relaxant that are released when you are calm and relaxed during childbirth. Interestingly, the same is found in the placenta and umbilical cord. This helps your baby adjust to life outside the womb.
Ideally, you will need a minimum upload speed of 2Mbps for live online courses. You can run a test on your computer to check your upload speed with this tool http://www.speedtest.net.
The best way to take a hypnobirthing course is live online with an instructor. You have a better opportunity to ask questions and learn the techniques.
