My husband and I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Emma to prepare for the birth of our first baby. Emma’s classes were both informative and relaxing and we both feel so prepared for a peaceful, natural birth at home, thanks to our HyponoBirthing practice. If you’re interested in HypnoBirthing, I would highly recommend working with Emma.
Emily, Berkhamsted
I couldn’t thank Emma enough for teaching me and my husband the art of Hypnobirthing. Even though I ended up being induced I still used the the Hypnobirthing method and had an incredible natural birth. I couldn’t recommend Emma enough, thank you!

Emma has a warm and intuitive teaching style. She guided me through my pregnancy and helped me overcome my birthing fears and have the most empowering and rewarding birthing experience. I actually enjoyed it. For that I am hugely thankful.

The environment was positive and welcoming. The hypnobirthing course was informative, educational and provided us with the tools to have at the birth. I feel more knowledgeable and confident and my partner is now more involved in the process. We feel excited for the birth

I just want to say a massive thank you, the hypnobirthing skills you taught us on the course were invaluable during the birth. It gave us so much confidence, the whole experience was calm, anxiety free and positive.
Jessica, Leighton Buzzard
The course was really informative and I learnt so much about birth that I never knew. It was lovely to discuss concerns and other ideas for birth with other couples. I feel a lot calmer and positive about giving birth and more confident that I can handle whatever happens during our birthing experience. I have enjoyed the relaxations so much. I am glad I have plenty of them to listen to before our birthing day.
Amelia, Leighton Buzzard
I did not have any type of pain relief at all and the sensations I had were completely bearable. Iain was also really great, he stayed in control and calm, did the soft touch massage and was generally very soothing. I put my amazing birth experience down to the hypnobirthing lessons and doing the relaxations and birthing affirmations (almost) daily, so thank you for teaching Iain and I the skills we needed to make that happen.
Penny, Rickmansworth
Just to say many thanks. Had it not been for hypnobirthing, I would have not survived! Our baby Eden was born 23rd December and using the hypnobirthing tools saved me! I got to full dilation within 3 hours of the first sign of labour and the breathing literally took the pain away like an anaesthetic would, I was surprised how powerful it was. I cannot emphasise enough the empowerment, confidence, vital knowledge and coping tools that I gained from hypnobirthing. I rarely recommend courses but this is a must for every woman. To be candid I would advise this course is taught to every mother-to-be as standard, simply to equip women with the physical, emotional/mental skills & techniques required to undergo the powerful experience of childbirth; and to access the inner strength required for such a feat!

To know about Hypnobirthing in detail, visit the ‘What is Hypnobirthing’ page. It will help you understand what Hypnobirthing is and how it works.
Hypnobirthing is a learned skill, and the success of it depends on the practice that has been done during the pregnancy. According to the Hypnobirthing Institute, 65-70% of hypnobirthing mothers do not require any kind of pain relief. In terms of my own experience, from women that I taught over a 2 year period, 69% did not need any kind of pain relief during labour.
According to the Hypnobirthing Institute, from the total hypnobirthing mothers, around 20-25% of mothers just need something mild, like gas and air. The remaining 5-10% normally have some ‘special circumstances’ where there is a need for some medical intervention. The hypnobirthing mothers that I taught, who were induced, or ended up with a caesarean, tell me that hypnobirthing was still very useful for them. To read about the experiences of these mothers, visit my blog.
Hypnobirthing aims to aid the mothers have a much better birthing experience so that no matter what the situations, the mother is still able to stay calm.
Giving birth without an epidural means that mothers can walk and move freely all through labour, something that is extremely beneficial, especially if the baby is in a difficult position. This way mothers can stay connected with their body and their baby.
Several studies show that an epidural is responsible for extending the birthing time and increasing the chances of using other interventions, such as vacuum extraction and forceps. People should be aware that any drugs the mother takes while pregnant will also affect the baby. It is also a fact that usually, a woman’s body recovers faster after drug-free childbirth.
By using Hypnobirthing, a woman increases the chances of having a drug-free birth, as there is much less likely to be any need for pain relief.
The best time to start the 4-week course is between the 20th and 30th week of your pregnancy. You can contact us if you are later than 30 weeks and we should still be able to fit you in. I have taught plenty of couples from 36 weeks.
Yes. As self-hypnosis and deep relaxation are learned skills, it is best to do sufficient practice at your home in North London, between the classes to get the maximum results. The 4-week course makes you and your birth partner feel completely prepared, calm, and confident as the delivery date approaches.
Hypnobirthing is suitable for anyone who wants to feel more prepared and confident about the whole childbirth process. Many first-time mothers who are new to childbirth are looking for something that can ease their nervousness and fear.
Mothers who have already given birth once or more, and had a difficult experience, often want to try an alternative and positive approach to childbirth. Likewise, women who wish to have a vaginal birth after caesarean (VBAC) find that hypnobirthing is best when it comes to releasing any fears about vaginal birth. Hypnobirthing practices are beneficial in both home births and hospital or birth-centre births.
There is nothing difficult about hypnosis, as the technique helps you to enter a state of relaxation and calmness. You are still fully aware of your surroundings, and will feel normal, just relaxed. Self-hypnosis is a skill which can be learned easily throughout the course duration.
Hypnobirthing is not just about learning self-hypnosis; it is a complete attitude and methodology to pregnancy and childbirth. Also, the relaxation practices are useful after childbirth, as they help you to de-stress and relax.
Hypnobirthing is certainly good for your baby. As the baby is inside you, he/she will feel exactly what you are feeling. This means hypnobirthing will calm your baby just as it calms you. Endorphins, which are your body’s natural relaxant, are released as the body is in a calm state during childbirth. This helps the baby adjust to life outside the womb and makes the birth more relaxed.
There have been studies to show that babies whose mothers had natural childbirth are more attentive and take more interest in breastfeeding.
For the live online class, you must have a minimum upload speed of 2Mbps. You can use http://www.speedtest.net to run a test to check your upload speed.
The best way to take a hypnobirthing course is online with an instructor. You have a better opportunity to ask questions and learn the techniques.
