My husband and I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Emma to prepare for the birth of our first baby. Emma’s classes were both informative and relaxing and we both feel so prepared for a peaceful, natural birth at home, thanks to our HyponoBirthing practice. If you’re interested in HypnoBirthing, I would highly recommend working with Emma.
Emily, Berkhamsted
I couldn’t thank Emma enough for teaching me and my husband the art of Hypnobirthing. Even though I ended up being induced I still used the the Hypnobirthing method and had an incredible natural birth. I couldn’t recommend Emma enough, thank you!

Emma has a warm and intuitive teaching style. She guided me through my pregnancy and helped me overcome my birthing fears and have the most empowering and rewarding birthing experience. I actually enjoyed it. For that I am hugely thankful.
Sarah, Berkhamsted
The environment was positive and welcoming. The hypnobirthing course was informative, educational and provided us with the tools to have at the birth. I feel more knowledgeable and confident and my partner is now more involved in the process. We feel excited for the birth

I just want to say a massive thank you, the hypnobirthing skills you taught us on the course were invaluable during the birth. It gave us so much confidence, the whole experience was calm, anxiety free and positive.
Jessica, Leighton Buzzard
The course was really informative and I learnt so much about birth that I never knew. It was lovely to discuss concerns and other ideas for birth with other couples. I feel a lot calmer and positive about giving birth and more confident that I can handle whatever happens during our birthing experience. I have enjoyed the relaxations so much. I am glad I have plenty of them to listen to before our birthing day.
Amelia, Leighton Buzzard
I did not have any type of pain relief at all and the sensations I had were completely bearable. Iain was also really great, he stayed in control and calm, did the soft touch massage and was generally very soothing. I put my amazing birth experience down to the hypnobirthing lessons and doing the relaxations and birthing affirmations (almost) daily, so thank you for teaching Iain and I the skills we needed to make that happen.
Penny, Rickmansworth
Just to say many thanks. Had it not been for hypnobirthing, I would have not survived! Our baby Eden was born 23rd December and using the hypnobirthing tools saved me! I got to full dilation within 3 hours of the first sign of labour and the breathing literally took the pain away like an anaesthetic would, I was surprised how powerful it was. I cannot emphasise enough the empowerment, confidence, vital knowledge and coping tools that I gained from hypnobirthing. I rarely recommend courses but this is a must for every woman. To be candid I would advise this course is taught to every mother-to-be as standard, simply to equip women with the physical, emotional/mental skills & techniques required to undergo the powerful experience of childbirth; and to access the inner strength required for such a feat!

Hypnobirthing often gives women and their birth companions the confidence to have a homebirth rather than go to a hospital. Some people choose to go to a hospital or are required to for medical reasons.
For couples who choose a hospital birth, Watford General Hospital is only about 10 minutes drive away. There is a midwifery-led birth centre attached to the hospital with more of an emphasis on natural childbirth and provides birthing pools for water births. You can contact the hospital and birth centre for more information on facilities and to book a tour:-
Watford General Hospital – 01992 244 366 switchboard. The Alexandra Birth Centre is ext 7364.
There is also the West Middlesex University Hospital, Twickenham Road, Isleworth, Middlesex, TW7 6AF. Tel. – 020 8560 2121

The nine months of pregnancy is a very special time for mums-to-be. It is a time of great physiological and emotional change. Unfortunately some changes mean the discomfort of backache, aching hips, sciatica, cramp, insomnia and swelling to name but a few. This is where massage can be of great comfort and alleviate some of the more uncomfortable effects of pregnancy.
Reflexology involves a method of treatment using massage to reflex areas on the hands and feet, most commonly the feet. These areas correspond to different parts of the body. A reflexologist will treat the whole body by applying a firm pressure to different points on the feet, mainly using the thumb. Reflexology can be effective for inducing labour.

Traditional Eastern Acupuncture involves the insertion of fine needles into the skin to stimulate certain acupuncture points. There are more than 300 of these points on the body and the insertion is shallow and should not be painful (no greater than plucking hair from your skin). It has become recognised by western doctors. Acupuncture can be effective at inducing labour.

Homeopathy is a holistic medicine that stimulates the body’s own healing power. Homoeopathic treatment is designed around the individual, specific to their condition and character; a unique prescription. Homeopathy values you as an individual above all, taking into account your personal lifestyle and your specific symptoms, rebalancing mental, emotional and physical health. Homeopathy can be used to help with birth and healing after birth.

Osteopathy is a safe hands-on manual therapy for both the diagnosis and treatment of many conditions which cause pain or discomfort. It uses many of the same diagnostic methods as conventional medicine to establish the cause of physical symptoms. It is grounded in science, research and anatomical knowledge but takes a ‘whole person’ approach.

To learn what hypnobirthing is and how it benefits you, check out my ‘What is Hypnobirthing’ page.
Hypnobirthing is an acquired skill so its success relies on how much you practise during the course. Pain-free labour is possible with hypnobirthing, and according to the Hypnobirthing Institute, hypnobirthing mums don’t generally need pain relief (65-70%). However, 20%-25% of hypnobirthing mums also need gas and air for pain-relief and 5%-10% experience ‘special circumstances’, where medical intervention is necessary. You can read hypnobirthing stories on my blog.
A drug-free birth is good because it doesn’t negatively affect the baby and add complications such as further interventions. Research shows that an epidural prolongs birth and heightens the probability of external interventions. Moreover, mothers tend to recover faster after a natural delivery and can move more freely during labour.
You should join us after your 20th pregnancy week but before your 30th week. If you are later than 30 weeks, please still get in touch. I have taught plenty of couples from 36 weeks.
Yes, because self-hypnosis is as effective as the amount of practice. My 4-week hypnobirthing course offers you enough time to do so between classes.
A lot of different people can benefit from hypnobirthing in different ways. First-time mums who have no prior experience of childbirth can address their fears using hypnobirthing techniques. Mothers on their second or subsequent pregnancies might look toward hypnobirthing for a less painful experience. If they’ve had a C-section before, it can help them deliver vaginally.
Hypnosis is nothing more than allowing yourself to enter deep relaxation. Self-hypnosis is a learned skill that you can improve throughout the 4-week course. It is easy to learn and simple to do. You can bring yourself out of it at any time and are still aware throughout.
Yes, because hypnobirthing keeps you calm and thus, your baby as well. You release endorphins when you’re in a peaceful state – the body’s natural relaxant. These are also found in the placenta and umbilical cord. So, your baby feels the same calming sensations while in your womb.
Yes, you’ll need a minimum of 2Mbps upload speed. You can test it using this tool: http://www.speedtest.net.
The best way to take a hypnobirthing course is online with an instructor. You have a better opportunity to ask questions and learn the techniques.
No matter where you are located, as long as you have a good internet connection, you take one of our classes in the comfort of your own home.
