My husband and I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Emma to prepare for the birth of our first baby. Emma’s classes were both informative and relaxing and we both feel so prepared for a peaceful, natural birth at home, thanks to our HyponoBirthing practice. If you’re interested in HypnoBirthing, I would highly recommend working with Emma.
Emily, Berkhamsted
I couldn’t thank Emma enough for teaching me and my husband the art of Hypnobirthing. Even though I ended up being induced I still used the the Hypnobirthing method and had an incredible natural birth. I couldn’t recommend Emma enough, thank you!

Emma has a warm and intuitive teaching style. She guided me through my pregnancy and helped me overcome my birthing fears and have the most empowering and rewarding birthing experience. I actually enjoyed it. For that I am hugely thankful.
Sarah, Berkhamsted
The environment was positive and welcoming. The hypnobirthing course was informative, educational and provided us with the tools to have at the birth. I feel more knowledgeable and confident and my partner is now more involved in the process. We feel excited for the birth

I just want to say a massive thank you, the hypnobirthing skills you taught us on the course were invaluable during the birth. It gave us so much confidence, the whole experience was calm, anxiety free and positive.
Jessica, Leighton Buzzard
The course was really informative and I learnt so much about birth that I never knew. It was lovely to discuss concerns and other ideas for birth with other couples. I feel a lot calmer and positive about giving birth and more confident that I can handle whatever happens during our birthing experience. I have enjoyed the relaxations so much. I am glad I have plenty of them to listen to before our birthing day.
Amelia, Leighton Buzzard
I did not have any type of pain relief at all and the sensations I had were completely bearable. Iain was also really great, he stayed in control and calm, did the soft touch massage and was generally very soothing. I put my amazing birth experience down to the hypnobirthing lessons and doing the relaxations and birthing affirmations (almost) daily, so thank you for teaching Iain and I the skills we needed to make that happen.
Penny, Rickmansworth
Just to say many thanks. Had it not been for hypnobirthing, I would have not survived! Our baby Eden was born 23rd December and using the hypnobirthing tools saved me! I got to full dilation within 3 hours of the first sign of labour and the breathing literally took the pain away like an anaesthetic would, I was surprised how powerful it was. I cannot emphasise enough the empowerment, confidence, vital knowledge and coping tools that I gained from hypnobirthing. I rarely recommend courses but this is a must for every woman. To be candid I would advise this course is taught to every mother-to-be as standard, simply to equip women with the physical, emotional/mental skills & techniques required to undergo the powerful experience of childbirth; and to access the inner strength required for such a feat!

Some women choose to have their babies at home because they like the comfort and familiarity of their home environment. You can also have a water birth at home if you hire an inflatable birthing pool. Alternatively, you may prefer to birth your baby in a birth centre. Luton & Dunstable offer a midwifery-led birth centre, located alongside the labour ward so that obstetric medical care is close at hand if intervention is required. The birth centre has a ‘home from home’ feel to it, with less medical equipment around and an emphasis on natural birth. Sometimes you may be required to have birth on the labour ward due to your circumstances. A birth pool is usually available on the labour ward and the birth centre at the Luton & Dunstable hospital. Speak to your midwife for more information or book a tour.

The ancient therapy of reflexology looks at the hands and feet as windows to the rest of the body. By applying pressure to certain parts, you can heal your body in other places. Reflexology can be used for any problems in your pregnancy, both mental and physical. Always go to a professional and consult with your GP or midwife before booking an appointment.

Osteopathic practices focus on the bone structure and muscles of patients. This can help with backache, sore joints, pelvic pain and many other issues that affect pregnant women. It can even aid digestion and breathing. Cranial osteopathy is a therapy that examines your child’s skull formation and realigns your baby after birth. Always go to a professional and consult with your GP or midwife before booking an appointment.
Homeopathy uses highly diluted substances which cause the body to heal itself. Your GP and midwife should be the first people you speak to about any medical issues, but homeopathic practitioners can also assist you, particularly if you are restricted from taking some medications during pregnancy. Practitioners can give you labour kits which can be used instead of traditional methods of pain relief during labour. Always consult with your GP or midwife before booking an appointment.

Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese therapy that uses thin needles to stimulate parts of the body. It can be a very useful aid during pregnancy for problems with your digestive system, breathing, swelling, aches, pains and morning sickness. Acupuncture is a relatively painless procedure but always consult with your GP or midwife before booking a session.

Simply peruse my ‘What is Hypnobirthing’ page to learn everything about hypnobirthing and why it can be of benefit to you.
Hypnobirthing is an acquired skill, so the more you practice, the better it will be. Pain-free labour is possible with hypnobirthing. The Hypnobirthing Institute tells us that 65-70% of hypnobirthing mothers do not need any form of pain relief and 20-25% just need gas and air; whereas about 5-10% of them experience ‘special circumstances’ which often entails medical intervention. Browse through my blog to read some birth stories.
Research shows that epidurals tend to prolong birth and increase the probability of external interventions such as forceps. Plus, with a natural delivery, mothers can move more freely during labour and can recover much faster. In addition to this, drug-free births mean that no drugs will be passed on to the baby.
It’s best to start after your 20th pregnancy week but ideally before week 30. Even if you’re later than 30 weeks, it’s still possible for you to start the course. Simply contact us and we’ll get you booked in, especially if you are up to 36 weeks.
Yes, you do. Self-hypnosis is more effective if you practice it at home. My hypnobirthing course, which runs for 4 weeks, offers you adequate time to do so in-between classes.
Different individuals can benefit from hypnobirthing in a number of ways. First-time mothers who have no prior experience can overcome their fears and feel prepared for birth; whereas mothers on subsequent pregnancies might want to consider hypnobirthing for an easier and better experience. Even if mothers have had a C-section before, Hypnobirthing can still help them deliver vaginally.
Yes it will, because hypnosis is really just about allowing yourself to get into a relaxed state of mind. Self-hypnosis is a learned skill that you can easily improve during the 4-week course. There is nothing strange about hypnosis. You are still aware of your surroundings and can hold a conversation if you need to.
It is, because it keeps you relaxed and calm, and does the same for your baby too. When you’re in a relaxed sate, your body releases endorphins, which are your body’s natural relaxant. Endorphins are also present in the umbilical cord and placenta, thus, your baby feels the same calming sensations you feel while it’s in your womb.
