Leicester is a great place to raise a child because of the plentiful amenities and the presence of other young families in the area.
My husband and I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Emma to prepare for the birth of our first baby. Emma’s classes were both informative and relaxing and we both feel so prepared for a peaceful, natural birth at home, thanks to our HyponoBirthing practice. If you’re interested in HypnoBirthing, I would highly recommend working with Emma.

I couldn’t thank Emma enough for teaching me and my husband the art of Hypnobirthing. Even though I ended up being induced I still used the the Hypnobirthing method and had an incredible natural birth. I couldn’t recommend Emma enough, thank you!

Emma has a warm and intuitive teaching style. She guided me through my pregnancy and helped me overcome my birthing fears and have the most empowering and rewarding birthing experience. I actually enjoyed it. For that I am hugely thankful.

The environment was positive and welcoming. The hypnobirthing course was informative, educational and provided us with the tools to have at the birth. I feel more knowledgeable and confident and my partner is now more involved in the process. We feel excited for the birth

I just want to say a massive thank you, the hypnobirthing skills you taught us on the course were invaluable during the birth. It gave us so much confidence, the whole experience was calm, anxiety free and positive.
Jessica, Leighton Buzzard
The course was really informative and I learnt so much about birth that I never knew. It was lovely to discuss concerns and other ideas for birth with other couples. I feel a lot calmer and positive about giving birth and more confident that I can handle whatever happens during our birthing experience. I have enjoyed the relaxations so much. I am glad I have plenty of them to listen to before our birthing day.

I did not have any type of pain relief at all and the sensations I had were completely bearable. Iain was also really great, he stayed in control and calm, did the soft touch massage and was generally very soothing. I put my amazing birth experience down to the hypnobirthing lessons and doing the relaxations and birthing affirmations (almost) daily, so thank you for teaching Iain and I the skills we needed to make that happen.

Just to say many thanks. Had it not been for hypnobirthing, I would have not survived! Our baby Eden was born 23rd December and using the hypnobirthing tools saved me! I got to full dilation within 3 hours of the first sign of labour and the breathing literally took the pain away like an anaesthetic would, I was surprised how powerful it was. I cannot emphasise enough the empowerment, confidence, vital knowledge and coping tools that I gained from hypnobirthing. I rarely recommend courses but this is a must for every woman. To be candid I would advise this course is taught to every mother-to-be as standard, simply to equip women with the physical, emotional/mental skills & techniques required to undergo the powerful experience of childbirth; and to access the inner strength required for such a feat!

Read more about exactly what Hypnobirthing is, how it can help you and how it works on our ‘What is Hypnobirthing’ page.
The success of hypnobirthing largely depends on the extent of practice put in during the course, since it is a skill that can be acquired.
65-70% of hypnobirthing mums don’t need any pain relief, according to the Hypnobirthing Institute. About 69% of my students over a 2 year period, reported that they didn’t need any pain relief during labour. Also, the Institute declared that 20-25% only needed mild assistance such as gas and air, whilst 5-10% needed medical intervention.
Even when my students needed any intervention, they nevertheless testified that hypnobirthing was a great help. Read my blog for more individual birthing experiences.
Mums are usually freer to move during labour when they birth without any anesthetics. This is especially important if the baby is in a difficult position. When mums feel connected to their body throughout labour, they birth much faster than if they had an epidural. There is also a higher chance of needing medical interventions when epidurals are involved – and drugs ingested into mothers can also affect babies.
It is advisable to begin the 4-week course between the 20th and 30th week of pregnancy. However, it is not too late even after 30 weeks. Plenty of couples that I have taught have been at 36 weeks.
Practising at home whilst on the course is important, as hypnobirthing is a skill that requires practice.
Hypnobirthing is for anyone and everyone who wants to feel prepared and confident about birth. It is for those who are looking to feel properly informed about giving birth. First-time mums, or mothers in their second or successive pregnancies who are in need of new, positive birthing experiences. Hypnobirthing is also suited for mothers who intend to have a vaginal delivery after Caesarean. Whether the delivery is to take place at home, at the hospital or birth-centres, hypnobirthing has proven to be useful to all.
Absolutely! Hypnobirthing can work for anyone and is simple to learn. Hypnobirthing is aimed at helping mums to relax and be in control throughout labour. It is an acquired skill which gets better with practice. Apart from relaxing and being in control during birth, hypnobirthing also helps mums to relax after childbirth.
Most definitely. Your child feels every feeling you experience while still in the womb. This includes the feelings of relaxation. Endorphins that usually help mums to relax have also been seen in the baby’s placenta and umbilical cord. Infants born through hypnobirthing are said to adjust more easily after birth.
