My husband and I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Emma to prepare for the birth of our first baby. Emma’s classes were both informative and relaxing and we both feel so prepared for a peaceful, natural birth at home, thanks to our HyponoBirthing practice. If you’re interested in HypnoBirthing, I would highly recommend working with Emma.
Emily, Berkhamsted
I couldn’t thank Emma enough for teaching me and my husband the art of Hypnobirthing. Even though I ended up being induced I still used the the Hypnobirthing method and had an incredible natural birth. I couldn’t recommend Emma enough, thank you!

Emma has a warm and intuitive teaching style. She guided me through my pregnancy and helped me overcome my birthing fears and have the most empowering and rewarding birthing experience. I actually enjoyed it. For that I am hugely thankful.

The environment was positive and welcoming. The hypnobirthing course was informative, educational and provided us with the tools to have at the birth. I feel more knowledgeable and confident and my partner is now more involved in the process. We feel excited for the birth

I just want to say a massive thank you, the hypnobirthing skills you taught us on the course were invaluable during the birth. It gave us so much confidence, the whole experience was calm, anxiety free and positive.
Jessica, Leighton Buzzard
The course was really informative and I learnt so much about birth that I never knew. It was lovely to discuss concerns and other ideas for birth with other couples. I feel a lot calmer and positive about giving birth and more confident that I can handle whatever happens during our birthing experience. I have enjoyed the relaxations so much. I am glad I have plenty of them to listen to before our birthing day.
Amelia, Leighton Buzzard
I did not have any type of pain relief at all and the sensations I had were completely bearable. Iain was also really great, he stayed in control and calm, did the soft touch massage and was generally very soothing. I put my amazing birth experience down to the hypnobirthing lessons and doing the relaxations and birthing affirmations (almost) daily, so thank you for teaching Iain and I the skills we needed to make that happen.
Penny, Rickmansworth
Just to say many thanks. Had it not been for hypnobirthing, I would have not survived! Our baby Eden was born 23rd December and using the hypnobirthing tools saved me! I got to full dilation within 3 hours of the first sign of labour and the breathing literally took the pain away like an anaesthetic would, I was surprised how powerful it was. I cannot emphasise enough the empowerment, confidence, vital knowledge and coping tools that I gained from hypnobirthing. I rarely recommend courses but this is a must for every woman. To be candid I would advise this course is taught to every mother-to-be as standard, simply to equip women with the physical, emotional/mental skills & techniques required to undergo the powerful experience of childbirth; and to access the inner strength required for such a feat!

Hypnobirthing is about improving the birthing experience and you can read about it on our web page ‘What is Hypnobirthing’.
Hypnobirthing is an acquired skill so is more successful with the help of practice. Normally hypnobirthing mums do not require any other kind of pain relief. The Hypnobirthing institute has found that 65%-70% mothers who practise hypnobirthing do not need any other pain relief. My own research of mums who took my course over a 2 year period showed that 69% of mums do not require pain relief during labour. Furthermore, according to the Hypnobirthing Institute, 20%-25% of mums may require some mild relief like gas and air and only 5%-10% of them would experience special circumstances where medical intervention was necessary. In all cases, mums said that hypnobirthing helped them, even when there was medical intervention. You can read their experiences on my personal blog.
A drug-free birth frees you from all the complexities caused by epidurals, such as not being able to move freely or having difficulties walking or changing positions. Epidurals often lead to further medical intervention such as vacuum extraction or forceps. Moreover, any drug used during birth can affect babies. Mothers go for a drug-free birth because of its many advantages, including the recovery time being faster.
Hypnobirthing is the perfect choice for mums because not only does it decrease the likelihood of using drugs but it also provides calmness and control, reducing the chance of any medical intervention.
It is best to start the course before the end of your second trimester. You can start at any time between the 20th to 30th week of your pregnancy. If you cannot join the course before the 30th week, do not worry as I have taught plenty of couples after 30 weeks gestation, even up to 36 weeks.
Hypnobirthing is basically an acquired skill and is more effective with practice. Our 4-week online course provides a great opportunity to learn and practise all aspects of hypnobirthing but it is recommended to keep practising at home.
Hypnobirthing is suitable for all pregnant women, whether it be the first pregnancy or a subsequent one. It is also suitable for women who want to try alternative techniques for birthing for instance if you wish for a vaginal birth after caesarean (VBAC). Hypnobirthing works for all situations, if you want to give birth at home or in a birth centre or hospital.
Hypnosis is basically a technique to relax your body and mind whilst staying aware of your surroundings. You can acquire the skill of self-hypnosis with practise but it is easy to learn and simple to do. You can even talk to other people while in the state of hypnosis and you can come out of it at any time. It is a normal state which we often experience such as day dreaming or becoming absorbed in a good book or film.
Yes, hypnobirthing is as good for your baby as it is for you. An unborn baby shares the same feelings as the mother, therefore it is important for the mother to stay relaxed. Endorphins are a natural relaxant and the mother’s body releases this hormone when she feels relaxed, which are passed on to the baby. This technique also helps mothers give birth naturally, and research has shown that naturally born babies are more active and find breastfeeding easier.
Yes, you must have a stable internet connection. The minimum upload and download speed of your internet should be 2Mbps so that you can enjoy online hypnobirthing classes uninterruptedly. You can check your internet speed on http://www.speedtest.net.
If you want to get information from a course download, that is fine, but if you want to learn and practise a new skill quickly then a course with proper interactive instruction is a much better idea. Our online hypnobirthing classes in Devon are very interactive in which I speak with participants to ensure that they understand everything and they can ask questions whenever they want.
No matter where you are located, as long as you have a good internet connection, you take one of our classes in the comfort of your own home.
