My husband and I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Emma to prepare for the birth of our first baby. Emma’s classes were both informative and relaxing and we both feel so prepared for a peaceful, natural birth at home, thanks to our HyponoBirthing practice. If you’re interested in HypnoBirthing, I would highly recommend working with Emma.
Emily, Berkhamsted
I couldn’t thank Emma enough for teaching me and my husband the art of Hypnobirthing. Even though I ended up being induced I still used the the Hypnobirthing method and had an incredible natural birth. I couldn’t recommend Emma enough, thank you!
Louise, Tring
Emma has a warm and intuitive teaching style. She guided me through my pregnancy and helped me overcome my birthing fears and have the most empowering and rewarding birthing experience. I actually enjoyed it. For that I am hugely thankful.
Sarah, Berkhamsted
The environment was positive and welcoming. The hypnobirthing course was informative, educational and provided us with the tools to have at the birth. I feel more knowledgeable and confident and my partner is now more involved in the process. We feel excited for the birth
Clare, Watford
I just want to say a massive thank you, the hypnobirthing skills you taught us on the course were invaluable during the birth. It gave us so much confidence, the whole experience was calm, anxiety free and positive.
Jessica, Leighton Buzzard
The course was really informative and I learnt so much about birth that I never knew. It was lovely to discuss concerns and other ideas for birth with other couples. I feel a lot calmer and positive about giving birth and more confident that I can handle whatever happens during our birthing experience. I have enjoyed the relaxations so much. I am glad I have plenty of them to listen to before our birthing day.
Amelia, Leighton Buzzard
I did not have any type of pain relief at all and the sensations I had were completely bearable. Iain was also really great, he stayed in control and calm, did the soft touch massage and was generally very soothing. I put my amazing birth experience down to the hypnobirthing lessons and doing the relaxations and birthing affirmations (almost) daily, so thank you for teaching Iain and I the skills we needed to make that happen.
Penny, Rickmansworth
Just to say many thanks. Had it not been for hypnobirthing, I would have not survived! Our baby Eden was born 23rd December and using the hypnobirthing tools saved me! I got to full dilation within 3 hours of the first sign of labour and the breathing literally took the pain away like an anaesthetic would, I was surprised how powerful it was. I cannot emphasise enough the empowerment, confidence, vital knowledge and coping tools that I gained from hypnobirthing. I rarely recommend courses but this is a must for every woman. To be candid I would advise this course is taught to every mother-to-be as standard, simply to equip women with the physical, emotional/mental skills & techniques required to undergo the powerful experience of childbirth; and to access the inner strength required for such a feat!

You might decide to have a home birth for privacy and peaceful surroundings, which can really help with relaxation. Often couples find that Hypnobirthing gives them the confidence to opt for a home birth. Alternatively, Chesham is a 20-minute drive away from Stoke Mandeville hospital in Aylesbury. There is a birth centre within the hospital which is worth visiting if you prefer a setting more conducive to natural birth, which is attached to the hospital and run entirely by midwives. The other option is the stand alone Wycombe Birth Centre which is a home from home setting, less clinical than the hospital environment and run entirely by midwives. A completely pain free labour is possible with hypnobirthing but is not guaranteed, as every woman is different. According to the Hypnobirthing Institute, 65%-70% of hypnobirthing mothers do not require any other form of pain relief. This is supported by my own research where I found that 69% of mums who took my course, over a 2 year period, did not need any form of pain relief during labour. Only 5%-10% of births involve special circumstances where medical intervention is necessary. You can read testimonials of some of my students on my blog.
Any drugs that you take during the birthing process will affect your baby as well. Research shows that using an epidural prolongs your birthing time and leads to the use of other interventions such as vacuum extraction and forceps. Hypnobirthing mothers often describe their recovery after a drug-free birth to be much faster.
The best time for the course is between your 20th and 30th week of pregnancy. If you are later than this please do still get in touch as I should still be able to fit a course in for you (up to 36 weeks).
Like all skills, self-hypnosis and deep relaxation require practice. By taking the 4-week course, you and your birth companion have sufficient time to practice the skills, and better prepare for your birthing day.
Any woman seeking to have a more positive birthing experience is eligible. First time mums who feel nervous or just want to feel more prepared, or mums who have given birth before and want a better experience this time round. It is suitable for home births, birth centres or hospital births.
Definitely. Hypnosis is about entering a state of relaxation. All your other functions are active, and you can react accordingly to any prompts around you. It is simple to learn and easy to do.
Endorphins released during your state of deep relaxation calm the body. These are passed on to your baby, enabling them to go through a less stressful birth. Research also shows that babies born naturally have a keener interest in breastfeeding behaviours and are more alert.
An internet upload speed of 2Mbps is ideal for the live online hypnobirthing classes.
The best way to take a hypnobirthing course is online with an instructor. You have a better opportunity to ask questions and learn the techniques.
No matter where you are located, as long as you have a good internet connection, you take one of our classes in the comfort of your own home.
