Introduction

Welcome to Together Birthing and congratulations on expecting a baby! I'm Emma, a hypnobirthing mother and a passionate practitioner, offering live online hypnobirthing courses to expectant couples in Cambridge.

I trained at the Hypnobirthing institute in 2014 and then at the Hypnobirthing Training Academy in 2016 under the guidance of Jenny Mullan, who's training course is accredited by the Royal College of Midwives.

My online hypnobirthing course consists of 4 x 2 hour weekly classes to fully prepare couples for childbirth, providing them with a complete childbirth education programme.

Being a hypnobirthing mother myself, I love sharing my knowledge and experience of hypnobirthing with other couples so that they too can enjoy a more positive birth experience. If you live in Cambridge or the surrounding areas and are searching for hypnobirthing courses, do get in touch with any queries you might have about the course. I'd be happy to have an initial discussion with you.

    FAQs

Visit ‘What is Hypnobirthing’ page to want to know more about Hypnobirthing, its working and other related information about it.

A completely pain free labour is possible with hypnobirthing but every woman is different so it’s not something that can be guaranteed. The Hypnobirthing Institute estimates that 65%-70% of the hypnobirthing mothers did not require any pain relief. Around 5%-10% of the hypnobirthing mothers went through severe circumstances where medical therapy was needed. The hypnobirthing technique worked for mothers experiencing severe conditions, and you can find many success stories to read about on my blog. The main purpose of hypnobirthing is to provide calmness and relaxation to the mother so that she can experience a healthy and normal delivery.

Anything you ingest directly affects your baby. It may sometimes be necessary to use pain relief, but you need to be wary of how it will affect your baby. Mothers who give birth without epidurals can move freely and can switch positions, should the baby be in a challenging birthing position. Hypnobirthing gives you better control of your body and helps you manage the surges, allowing you to breathe the baby down better. Studies show that using epidurals not only prolongs your birthing period but also increases the chances of other interventions such as forceps and vacuum release.

Between weeks 20th to 30th is the most appropriate time to start your course. In case you are late, it’s still possible to take part, so please do still get in touch.  I have taught plenty of couples who were at 36 weeks.

As with any skill, self-hypnosis and deep relaxation develop over time. The amount of practice you put in will determine how successful you will be. I am available on the phone or via email if you require assistance after the course.

Anyone can take a hypnobirthing course if they want an easier, more relaxed birth. It helps you to be prepared and stay positive on your birthing day. It is popular with first time mothers who want to be fully prepared for birth, or mothers who are experiencing childbirth for the second or third time as they want their experience to be better than before. Or those mothers opting for vaginal delivery after a caesarean section. Hypnobirthing is appropriate for both home and hospital centred births.

Hypnosis is a simple process used to attain a relaxed state of mind. It is easy to learn. There is nothing strange about it. Self-hypnosis is a skill that can be acquired and improved throughout the course. This course teaches you a lot more than just self-hypnosis. It provides a whole new positive approach to birth and helps to release stress during pregnancy and parenthood.

The endorphins that your brain releases during relaxation can also pass through to your baby. They are also present in the placenta and umbilical cord post-birth. As your baby adjusts to life outside the womb, the endorphins enable them to feel calm and relaxed. Research also shows that babies born of mothers who have had natural childbirth are more alert and show more interest in breastfeeding behaviours.

The best way to take a hypnobirthing course is online with an instructor. You have a better opportunity to ask questions and learn the techniques.
