My husband and I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Emma to prepare for the birth of our first baby. Emma’s classes were both informative and relaxing and we both feel so prepared for a peaceful, natural birth at home, thanks to our HyponoBirthing practice. If you’re interested in HypnoBirthing, I would highly recommend working with Emma.
Emily, Berkhamsted
I couldn’t thank Emma enough for teaching me and my husband the art of Hypnobirthing. Even though I ended up being induced I still used the the Hypnobirthing method and had an incredible natural birth. I couldn’t recommend Emma enough, thank you!
Louise, Tring
Emma has a warm and intuitive teaching style. She guided me through my pregnancy and helped me overcome my birthing fears and have the most empowering and rewarding birthing experience. I actually enjoyed it. For that I am hugely thankful.
Sarah, Berkhamsted
The environment was positive and welcoming. The hypnobirthing course was informative, educational and provided us with the tools to have at the birth. I feel more knowledgeable and confident and my partner is now more involved in the process. We feel excited for the birth

I just want to say a massive thank you, the hypnobirthing skills you taught us on the course were invaluable during the birth. It gave us so much confidence, the whole experience was calm, anxiety free and positive.
Jessica, Leighton Buzzard
The course was really informative and I learnt so much about birth that I never knew. It was lovely to discuss concerns and other ideas for birth with other couples. I feel a lot calmer and positive about giving birth and more confident that I can handle whatever happens during our birthing experience. I have enjoyed the relaxations so much. I am glad I have plenty of them to listen to before our birthing day.
Amelia, Leighton Buzzard
I did not have any type of pain relief at all and the sensations I had were completely bearable. Iain was also really great, he stayed in control and calm, did the soft touch massage and was generally very soothing. I put my amazing birth experience down to the hypnobirthing lessons and doing the relaxations and birthing affirmations (almost) daily, so thank you for teaching Iain and I the skills we needed to make that happen.
Penny, Rickmansworth
Just to say many thanks. Had it not been for hypnobirthing, I would have not survived! Our baby Eden was born 23rd December and using the hypnobirthing tools saved me! I got to full dilation within 3 hours of the first sign of labour and the breathing literally took the pain away like an anaesthetic would, I was surprised how powerful it was. I cannot emphasise enough the empowerment, confidence, vital knowledge and coping tools that I gained from hypnobirthing. I rarely recommend courses but this is a must for every woman. To be candid I would advise this course is taught to every mother-to-be as standard, simply to equip women with the physical, emotional/mental skills & techniques required to undergo the powerful experience of childbirth; and to access the inner strength required for such a feat!
Zohar, Tring
Hypnobirthing often gives women and their birth partners the confidence to opt for a home birth, preferring the privacy and comfort of their own familiar surroundings. If you prefer (or are required for medical reasons) to give birth on a labour ward, Stoke Mandeville hospital in Aylesbury serves a large catchment area in Buckinghamshire and has a birth centre attached to the hospital. There is also the option of a stand-alone birth centre in Wycombe. The birth centres are for low-risk women with an emphasis on natural birth being entirely run by midwives. The environment is less medical than the hospital labour ward – more of a home from home environment and tends to be less busy than the labour ward.

It’s important to connect with your body and your baby during pregnancy – your body is your baby’s home for 9 months, after all! Pregnancy Pilates is tremendously beneficial for you and your baby and the classes are conveniently located just upstairs from the Hypnobirthing classes in the Flint Barn, so you can easily go from one to the other on a Wednesday evening.

Pregnancy yoga is highly advantageous to future mums as it helps to regulate breathing and calms both the mind and body. Choi van Rest and Nicola both run courses which are a great chance to get involved with pregnancy yoga on a long-term basis.

Massage allows tissues and muscles in your body to be manipulated by applying different amounts of pressure. If you’re suffering from back problems or neck ache, joint pains or general stress, massage can be a fantastic and inexpensive treatment. Gentle massage can also benefit newborns immensely.

Reflexology can help to induce labour and can also help with many problems that women might face during pregnancy, the main ones being general aches and pains or swelling. Reflexologists use pressure points in your hands, face, and feet to connect with different parts of your body.
Osteopathy is an alternative medicine that concentrates on your bone structure and muscles. By moving and massaging sore joints or muscles, osteopathy can be highly beneficial in treating any aches and pains. Cranial osteopathy is also recommended for newborns as a way to realign their bodies after birth.

Homeopathy is a natural form of medicine which triggers the body’s system of healing. The remedies are aligned to specific symptoms. It should never be used as a substitute to medical advice given to you by your GP, however homeopathic treatments have been known to help with many pregnancy problems. You can also use homeopathic kits as an alternative to traditional pain relief during labour.

Amatsu is a Japanese soft tissue therapy which focuses on aligning your body and can help with everything from joint and muscle pains to stress and anxiety. It works by looking at your body as a whole and helping to correct any imbalances. There are no Amatsu classes that take place in Amersham, however, two very good Amatsu therapists are located in nearby Chesham.
We’ve all seen photographs of acupuncture and thought that the process looks a little daunting. However, the procedure is relatively painless and the treatment can help chronic pains, stress or anxiety and nausea amongst other issues women face during pregnancy. The Orchard Clinic and Osteopathy Practice both offer acupuncture sessions.

You can gain valuable insight into hypnobirthing by reading our ‘What is Hypnobirthing’ page.
As a general guide, the Hypnobirthing Institute has found that 20%-25% of hypnobirthing mums only require mild pain relief whereas 5%-10% are special circumstances. 65-70% do not need any other pain relief which fits with my own study of mums that I have taught (69%). You should read all about the birthing experiences on my blog.
A drug-free birth is usually the best way to go, not only for the mum but the baby as well. Epidurals tend to over-complicate the process by leading to further medical intervention and usually prolong the birthing time. Through hypnobirthing, you generally have the best chance of undergoing a drug-free birth that will be better for your baby’s well-being and will make the recovery easier.
You should join my online hypnobirthing classes between your 20th and 30th weeks of pregnancy. Even if you’re a little late, you should still get in touch. I have taught many couples from 36 weeks!
Yes, of course. Since hypnobirthing is an acquired skill, you must practise regularly. The duration of my 4-week course is enough to empower you and your partner as your birthing day approaches.
Hypnobirthing is a skill that’s beneficial to anyone seeking a positive birthing experience. It is ideal for first-time mums who don’t know what to expect or need to calm their nerves. It’s also perfect for mums who would like to have a different experience compared to their previous ones – for example, delivering vaginally if they had a C-section last time.
Yes, it can be used by anybody and is simple to learn. It should be noted that hypnosis is nothing but entering a state of calmness – you’re awake and fully in control. Also, there’s a lot more to my online hypnobirthing Buckinghamshire classes than mere hypnosis; the techniques can go a very long way by helping to reduce stress in everyday life.
It is very good for your baby as it helps you release endorphins, a natural relaxant. These are found in the umbilical cord as well as the placenta. So, your baby will feel the same calm sensations that you feel through hypnobirthing.
A minimum upload speed of 2Mbps is needed. You can test it out here: http://www.speedtest.net.
You will notice that merely listening and watching does not compare to actual interactive classes. My course guarantees that you’ll acquire important skills necessary for a successful birth and you can ask questions whenever you want to.
No matter where you are located, as long as you have a good internet connection, you take one of our classes in the comfort of your own home.
