My husband and I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Emma to prepare for the birth of our first baby. Emma’s classes were both informative and relaxing and we both feel so prepared for a peaceful, natural birth at home, thanks to our HyponoBirthing practice. If you’re interested in HypnoBirthing, I would highly recommend working with Emma.
Emily, Berkhamsted
I couldn’t thank Emma enough for teaching me and my husband the art of Hypnobirthing. Even though I ended up being induced I still used the the Hypnobirthing method and had an incredible natural birth. I couldn’t recommend Emma enough, thank you!
Louise, Tring
Emma has a warm and intuitive teaching style. She guided me through my pregnancy and helped me overcome my birthing fears and have the most empowering and rewarding birthing experience. I actually enjoyed it. For that I am hugely thankful.
Sarah, Berkhamsted
The environment was positive and welcoming. The hypnobirthing course was informative, educational and provided us with the tools to have at the birth. I feel more knowledgeable and confident and my partner is now more involved in the process. We feel excited for the birth
Clare, Watford
I just want to say a massive thank you, the hypnobirthing skills you taught us on the course were invaluable during the birth. It gave us so much confidence, the whole experience was calm, anxiety free and positive.
Jessica, Leighton Buzzard
The course was really informative and I learnt so much about birth that I never knew. It was lovely to discuss concerns and other ideas for birth with other couples. I feel a lot calmer and positive about giving birth and more confident that I can handle whatever happens during our birthing experience. I have enjoyed the relaxations so much. I am glad I have plenty of them to listen to before our birthing day.
Amelia, Leighton Buzzard
I did not have any type of pain relief at all and the sensations I had were completely bearable. Iain was also really great, he stayed in control and calm, did the soft touch massage and was generally very soothing. I put my amazing birth experience down to the hypnobirthing lessons and doing the relaxations and birthing affirmations (almost) daily, so thank you for teaching Iain and I the skills we needed to make that happen.
Penny, Rickmansworth
Just to say many thanks. Had it not been for hypnobirthing, I would have not survived! Our baby Eden was born 23rd December and using the hypnobirthing tools saved me! I got to full dilation within 3 hours of the first sign of labour and the breathing literally took the pain away like an anaesthetic would, I was surprised how powerful it was. I cannot emphasise enough the empowerment, confidence, vital knowledge and coping tools that I gained from hypnobirthing. I rarely recommend courses but this is a must for every woman. To be candid I would advise this course is taught to every mother-to-be as standard, simply to equip women with the physical, emotional/mental skills & techniques required to undergo the powerful experience of childbirth; and to access the inner strength required for such a feat!

When it comes to your actual birth, there are several choices in terms of your birthing environment. Having a home birth can help with relaxation during labour and birth by enabling you to have privacy and a peaceful environment. Hypnobirthing often gives couples the confidence to opt for a home birth. Alternatively, if you live in Berkhamsted, there are two choices of hospital which are both approximately 20 minutes’ drive away, in Watford, Hertfordshire, and Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire. Both of these hospitals have birth centres attached to them if you are low risk and prefer a slightly less clinical environment, or in the case of Watford, you would like a water birth (not available on the Watford labour ward). You can contact the hospitals directly to find out more or book a tour, by clicking on the links below. You will need to advise your midwife which hospital you have decided on.

Relief from backache, sciatica, pelvic pain, heartburn and breathing difficulties. Osteopathy is also great for helping your body and your baby’s body get back to normal after birth. All babies can benefit from being checked by a cranial osteopath as the plates of bone forming the infant skull sometimes do not spring back completely after birth. This can cause many problems such as frequent crying due to headache, feeding problems, constipation or colic.
Christian Scharsach, Osteopathy Berkhamsted
Relief from minor pregnancy-related conditions such as nausea, backache and constipation as well as more severe symptoms and emotional changes. Also, for any conditions where pregnancy may prevent you from taking your usual medication. You can acquire homeopathic labour kits for help in relaxation during labour. Also good for treatment of problems after birth such as painful nipples, painful wounds and emotional symptoms such as ‘baby blues’ and postnatal depression and for babies there are treatments for all kinds of problems such as teething and nappy rash. It is strongly recommended that you maintain your relationship with your GP, midwife and other healthcare professionals you are currently working with. When necessary, homeopathic and conventional approaches can be used alongside one another to give the most effective and appropriate care.

I cannot completely guarantee a pain free labour (although it is possible!) however, approx. 70% of hypnobirthing mums do not need any other form of pain relief, according to statistics from the Hypnobirthing Institute and my own study of mums that I have taught. You can read actual testimonials from those who have attended the course on my blog.
Hypnobirthing greatly reduces your need for pain relief. Women who birth without an epidural can move freely and switch positions easily. Studies show that an epidural increases the chances of other interventions such as vacuum extraction and forceps. By employing the techniques you learn from your hypnobirthing course, you are in more control of your body, allowing a more natural birth.
We recommend you enrol for the course between your 20th and 30th week of pregnancy. If you are past your 30th week, please do still get in touch at Hypnobirthing Berkhamsted, so that I can find a course for you. I have taught plenty of mums who have been at 36 weeks of gestation.
The skills and techniques that I teach are acquired over time. The more you practice, the better you become at executing them. The 4-week online hypnobirthing classes, enable you and your birth companion to feel fully prepared, relaxed and confident as you approach your birthing day.
You can also reach me after the course for any further assistance that you may require.
Any mother seeking a calmer and easier birth is eligible for the hypnobirthing course. The techniques I teach apply to all birthing environments, whether at home, the hospital or a birth centre. I have even taught mums who are having a planned c-section.
Hypnosis is a simple technique which anybody can do. It’s just about entering a state of relaxation. You are still fully aware of your surroundings and can respond effectively to any situation. Hypnobirthing classes Berkhamsted involve more than just learning self-hypnosis. You will learn its philosophy and approach to pregnancy and childbirth.
You and your baby are always connected. Whatever you feel, they feel. As you enter a state of relaxation, your brain releases endorphins that calm the body. The same sensation passes to your baby, allowing them to go through the birthing process in a more comfortable way. Research shows that babies that have gone through natural childbirth are more alert and exhibit more interest in breastfeeding behaviours.
A minimum upload speed of 2Mbps is required. You can check your internet speed by using this free tool http://www.speedtest.net.
Live online hypnobirthing classes serve you best. You interact live with the instructor and get instant feedback on anything that you do which is useful when learning the techniques.
No matter where you are located, as long as you have a good internet connection, you take one of our classes in the comfort of your own home.
