My husband and I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Emma to prepare for the birth of our first baby. Emma’s classes were both informative and relaxing and we both feel so prepared for a peaceful, natural birth at home, thanks to our HyponoBirthing practice. If you’re interested in HypnoBirthing, I would highly recommend working with Emma.
Emily, Berkhamsted
I couldn’t thank Emma enough for teaching me and my husband the art of Hypnobirthing. Even though I ended up being induced I still used the the Hypnobirthing method and had an incredible natural birth. I couldn’t recommend Emma enough, thank you!

Emma has a warm and intuitive teaching style. She guided me through my pregnancy and helped me overcome my birthing fears and have the most empowering and rewarding birthing experience. I actually enjoyed it. For that I am hugely thankful.

The environment was positive and welcoming. The hypnobirthing course was informative, educational and provided us with the tools to have at the birth. I feel more knowledgeable and confident and my partner is now more involved in the process. We feel excited for the birth

I just want to say a massive thank you, the hypnobirthing skills you taught us on the course were invaluable during the birth. It gave us so much confidence, the whole experience was calm, anxiety free and positive.
Jessica, Leighton Buzzard
The course was really informative and I learnt so much about birth that I never knew. It was lovely to discuss concerns and other ideas for birth with other couples. I feel a lot calmer and positive about giving birth and more confident that I can handle whatever happens during our birthing experience. I have enjoyed the relaxations so much. I am glad I have plenty of them to listen to before our birthing day.
Amelia, Leighton Buzzard
I did not have any type of pain relief at all and the sensations I had were completely bearable. Iain was also really great, he stayed in control and calm, did the soft touch massage and was generally very soothing. I put my amazing birth experience down to the hypnobirthing lessons and doing the relaxations and birthing affirmations (almost) daily, so thank you for teaching Iain and I the skills we needed to make that happen.

Just to say many thanks. Had it not been for hypnobirthing, I would have not survived! Our baby Eden was born 23rd December and using the hypnobirthing tools saved me! I got to full dilation within 3 hours of the first sign of labour and the breathing literally took the pain away like an anaesthetic would, I was surprised how powerful it was. I cannot emphasise enough the empowerment, confidence, vital knowledge and coping tools that I gained from hypnobirthing. I rarely recommend courses but this is a must for every woman. To be candid I would advise this course is taught to every mother-to-be as standard, simply to equip women with the physical, emotional/mental skills & techniques required to undergo the powerful experience of childbirth; and to access the inner strength required for such a feat!

Hypnobirthing equips you with techniques to make your delivery easier. The results are all dependent on the practice that you do. I did a study of mums who took my course and found that 70% did not require any other pain relief. For more about their experiences, please refer to my blog.
There are situations that may arise where medical intervention is required. These are usually beyond your control and are done to guarantee the safety of both mother and child. In some cases, mothers may require gas or air, but this only accounts for about 20%-25% of mothers according to the Hypnobirthing Institute.
Anything that a mother takes during the pregnancy can affect their baby. Mothers who deliver drug-free, have faster and easier recovery times. According to studies, epidurals increase the chances of supplementary interventions such as forceps and vacuum extraction. These procedures prolong your birthing process and your recovery time. Drugs can also be passed on to your baby making them drowsy after the birth. Taking a course in hypnobirthing allows you to stay calm and in full control of the surges, enabling you to have a drug-free labour.
Ideally you can start within the 20th and 30th week of your pregnancy. Enrolment is also possible after your 30th week, however. Some couples start as late as 36 weeks. Please get in touch for more details.
Practise is necessary for hypnobirthing to be effective. The 4-week course provides you with enough time to practice your self-hypnosis, breathing and deep relaxation skills. You and your partner can take advantage of the time in between classes, to sufficiently prepare for the big day. Please reach out to me if you have any questions after completing the course.
Anyone is eligible for hypnobirthing. We cater for first-time mothers and those seeking alternative methods after a previous difficult birth experience. The techniques that you learn apply to all birthing scenarios, whether at the hospital, home or at a birthing centre. Hypnobirthing techniques also work particularly well for those mothers who fear vaginal births after caesarean sections. The fear-release techniques and deep relaxation are incredibly useful.
Hypnosis aims to help you achieve a heightened sense of relaxation. Dr Grantly Dick-Read, in his book Childbirth Without Fear, believes that your level of fear directly affects the amount of pain you go through during childbirth. The hypnobirthing course will better prepare you to manage this fear, thereby reducing your pain during delivery. Even after birth, the recovery process can be quite difficult. Employing all the techniques and skills that you will learn should make the process a lot easier.
Yes. Any level of anxiety in the mother releases stress hormones that complicate the birthing process. Adrenaline causes blood to be pumped to the major muscles, reducing blood flow to the womb. In turn, your baby does not receive as much oxygen, increasing the chances of medical intervention. In a relaxed state, your body releases endorphins which have a calming effect on your body. During pregnancy, mother and child are connected. These relaxation hormones are also present in the placenta and umbilical cord right after birth. Research studies show that babies born through natural birth, show more alertness and respond much better to breastfeeding.
